New Strategy for PTC Creo Schematics integration to PTC Windchill

New Strategy for PTC Creo Schematics integration to PTC Windchill
Following the new strategy for integrating ECAD related applications into Windchill, PTC and the Windchill segment announced a new approach for PTC Creo Schematics’ integration to Windchill.

Virtual Interconnect Ltd. expanded their partnership with PTC and have developed a new and enhanced integration based on Windchill REST services that will be the successor of the existing Workgroup Manager for Creo Schematics.

In support of that, PTC and Virtual Interconnect Ltd. are working closely together to ensure your existing data is compatible and can be re-used in future without the need of migration. Also focus was on having the same functionality in the new integration compared to the existing one to ensure continuity of adopted use cases. However, on top of that additional functionality is already included in the first release of Virtual Interconnect’s integration.

Windchill 12.0.2 release (from June 2021) and Creo Schematics 7.0 are both compatible with existing Workgroup Manager (WGM) for Creo Schematics as well as the new integration from Virtual Interconnect, offering a transitioning phase between both integrations without the need for upgrade.

As Windchill Workgroup Manager is now released independently of Windchill, WGM versions above 12.0.2 that are compatible with Windchill 12.0.2 will support a combination of Windchill 12.0.2 and Creo Schematics 7.0 until the June 2024, end of support date of Windchill 12.0.2.

Creo Schematics 7.0 is the last supported Creo Schematics version by the Windchill Workgroup Manager. Newer versions of Creo Schematics will be only supported by the new Windchill integration provided by Virtual Interconnect Ltd.

Please feel free to contact your local PTC Support representative or Ruediger Scholz, Senior Product Manager, PLM segment (rscholz@ptc.com) if you have any questions or concerns on the new strategy.

Point of contact for the new integration is Kieran Gilhooley from Virtual Interconnect Ltd. (kieran.gilhooley@virtual-interconnect.co.uk ).

For more details, on the Windchill release support timelines, please refer to the PTC Product Calendar. For more information regarding this update or for contact information for each partner, refer to these support articles: CS362065, CS298492
